Recently, electronic carts have been expected as a personal mobility for elderly people. Previously, we have developed the electronic cart system for supporting daily life of elderly people. This paper proposes a target tracking method using a landmark for supporting an autonomous driving of the electronic cart system. At first, we propose a two-toned cylinder landmark (landmark tower) for estimating a moving direction of the target electronic cart. Next, we explain intelligent technologies based on an evolutionary robot vision for detecting the landmark and estimating the moving direction of the target. By estimating the moving direction using the landmark tower, our method realizes the robust tracking when an occlusion happens. Finally, we show several experimental results, and discuss the effectiveness of the proposed method.
