Abstract

This paper presents the basic concept of a visual inspection for ceiling elements utilizing a mecanum wheel robot with a wireless camera. At first, the prototype inspection robot, which is using the mecanum wheels and has the wireless camera, is manufactured. Next, the manufactured mecanum wheel robot is applied the ceiling in the real structure for investigating the effectiveness for inspection. The obtained results indicate that the prototype mecanum wheel inspection robot will be useful tool for inspecting inside of the ceiling. The proposed mecanum wheel robot with wireless camera provides the useful information for establishing the repair and maintenance strategy for damaged and deteriorated ceilings.
