Abstract

Metal Spinning is a plastic forming method for rotational shapes in which the roller is pressed on a metal sheet or metal tube rotating on the lathe. Recently, various spinning methods for non-axisymmetric shapes were proposed using robot control technology. In this study, a metal spinning method for nonaxisymmetric shapes with oblique bottoms is developed. This method calculates the roller trajectory by using linear interpolation in the radial direction and axial direction, between the inclined blank shape and the inclined cross-section of the mandrel. Here we report the forming experiments and its evaluation of a square box with an oblique bottom.
