Abstract

Pupil response plays an important role to share the empathy in human face to face communication. We developed an embodied entrainment character system with pupil response and demonstrated that the pupil response is effective for supporting embodied interaction and communication. In this paper, focusing on the laugh expression that generates empathy in human interaction and communication, we develop a pupil response system for inducing empathy. This system generates the pupil response with laugh by using only speech input, and provides the communication environment in which the talker enjoys communication with the empathy.
