Abstract

This study aims at reducing backlash in the 3-UU parallel mechanism that the authors developed. A small internal gap of a bearing produces an angle clearance and is magnified to a large backlash of the effector. The new design adopts a two-point support structure to suppress the angle clearance. It has been also clarified that it is more significant to locate the midpoint of the two supporting points on the parent axis than to simply put a long interval between them.
