Abstract

The purpose of this study is to propose the quantification method of grace from the classical dance motion. William Hogarth said that human motion trajectory which includes ”the line of beauty” seems graceful. We are trying to establish a new method to extract ”the line of beauty” features from the curved surface formed by arm movements and to quantify the grace features. This paper describes a motion feature extraction method using Gauss map from curved surfaces formed by arm movements. We also discuss the influence of the degree of freedom of the wrist on the impression of the audience.
