Abstract

The space elevator is a transportation system connecting the space and the earth. Because the space elevator is vertically go up and go down, a large torque is required. It is possible to reduce torque by making the direction of rotation of the roller oblique. Therefore, we developed the experimental rope type space elevator use the spiral propulsion mechanism. By using the spiral propulsion mechanism, it is possible to reduce the initial torque. When the initial torque reduced, a small capacity motor can be use. Using a small capacity motor makes it lightweight. Further, by controlling the angle of the roller, the rotation can change to the vertical movement. Furthermore, attitude control for suppressing rotation around the tether can perform.
