Abstract

In order to solve the problem of highly standard-structure prosthesis and subjective surgical plan in total knee replacement (TKR), we proposed an individualized concurrent model, integrating the subject-specific musculoskeletal (MS) and finite element (FE) model, to predict the MS dynamics and vivo kinetics of prosthesis knee joint for each patient after TKR. The model was built mainly including three parts, namely MS model, knee model and prosthesis model, based on CT images, motion capture, and force plate data of patient. We constructed the MS model before TKR and did the simulation of a chair-rising and a chair-sitting motion. We verified muscle activity during the motion.
