Abstract

In this study, we propose an on-chip cell size filter based on a vibration-induced flow. When circular vibration is applied to a microfluidic chip with micropillar patterns, a highly localized flow is induced around micropillars. We have achieved various cell manipulation using this flow. In this paper, we fabricated micropillar array for cell size filter and evaluate the performance of the size filter by using microbeads with 5 μm and 25 μm, that imitate red blood cells and white blood cells. We succeeded in separate these microbeads with 70 % success rate.
