Abstract

For this study, a novel micro-magnetic tag was proposed and fabricated with low cost targeting to tracing living bodies and to establish a system for reading identification within short time under wet environment. For that purpose, we evaluated various magnetic materials using MEMS technology such as photolithography. As a result, it was found that the tag using the magnetic material is suitable for sensing rather than the diamagnetic material in terms of magnetic susceptibility. A sensor using magneto-optical (MO) was employed as a high throughput sensing by 2D data. Moreover, externally assisted magnetic field is applied to magnify the sensing ability. The positioning of N pole and the S pole of externally assisted magnet is optimized. It was found that the positioning facing each other on the left and right sides of the tag is suitable in terms of the strength of magnetization, spread of magnetic flux and direction. This study contributes to environmental technology and sensing / tracing technology.
