Abstract

In this report, we describe a rainfall and fog environment simulator, which is a test apparatus developed to evaluate the person detection performance of non-contact safety sensors under rainfall and/or fog. This simulator reproduces visibility reduction due to rainfall/fog in a limited indoor space. It consists of a rainfall apparatus, a fog generator, a dripproof linear slider, and some measurement or observation devices. We introduce the structure and specification of the simulator and report the example of the preliminary test results of a range image sensor under the reproduced rainfall.
