Abstract

This paper presents a simple evaluation system of human motor and perception properties in operations of vehicular driving interfaces by the limbs. The system is composed of a game controller of the driving interface type and two computers. Human arms’ mechanical impedance, around the rotational axis of a steering wheel, can be roughly estimated from the steering angle by using the database of mechanical impedance properties. Force perception tests in driving operations are carried out for subjects according to the different steering conditions, while the relationship between human impedance and perception properties is discussed.
