In firefighting operations, Hose layers are used for carrying fire hoses and tools between the pump truck and fire site. Due to the weight of Hose layer being over 100kg, it is difficult to carry using only manpower. In recent years, Electric type solutions have been introduced to reduce the burden on the operator. However, electric type hose layers have a danger that the operator may be hit by the hose layer when stopping. Therefore, a safe hose layer that does not collide with the operator is required. We believed the problem could be solved by controlling the hose layer’s accelerator with the Hawkins link mechanism and the steering axis. As a result, I developed and tested a hose layer that does not collide with the operator.
