Abstract

An ultrasonic phased array device for environment recognition of human support robot is being developed by the authors. The goal of this research is to develop the ultrasonic phased array device that can scan a wide range of environments in high resolution. An ultrasonic device with a reduced size and the ability of inhibiting grating lobe for wide sweep angles was proposed in a previous study. In this paper, the validation of the previous array was conducted at first. Furthermore, a nonuniform array was proposed for the suppression of grating lobe and compared with uniform array using simulator developed by authors to reproduce the real sound pressure precisely.
