Although the reduction of Arctic ice mass due to global warming is regarded as a problem, it is difficult to confirm the actual situation under sea ice. In order to efficiently conduct observational research beneath ice blocks in the Arctic, we are developing a submarine ice drone (AUV) that can be used under sea ice and conducting basic technology research.
As a means of communication with the AUV, a self-propelled radio tower capable of autonomous traveling on ice and always moving within the communication range from the AUV is required. In this study, we are developing the self-propelled radio tower. As a first report, we report on the development of actual equipment and field test result.
