Abstract

An artificial eye model which novice doctors can train a glaucoma surgery has not been enough developed yet. A realistic simulation system for medical education is required. However, although we have been got a sensory evaluation with any trial artificial eyeballs by experienced doctors, material measurement of only an elastic modulus was lack to understand the relationship between design of the eye model and doctor’s feelings. Therefore, in order to create a bionic eyeball for glaucoma surgery practice, it is necessary to extract the characteristics when a sclera, white part of the eye, is incised with a knife. In this study, we aim to clarify a characteristic these relationship through a simplified incision test with an artificial sclera. As the results, we were able to measure the reaction force when a sclera is incised with a knife.
