Abstract

We have proposed a stereo vibration technology that localizes the position of the feeling of vibration sources in the external world like stereo acoustics. Similar to the amplitude panning method in 3D acoustics, the stereo vibration localizes the vibration source by distributing the psychological intensity of the vibration to multiple vibrators according to the position of the source. The proposed method calculates and distributes the perceived intensity of arbitrary waveforms, including high-frequency ones, using the Intensity Segment Modulation proposed by the authors. This paper investigates the discrimination performance of the proposed method for moving trajectories of a vibration source by simultaneously controlling the direction and distance of the source.
