Abstract

Closed-loop mechanisms, that connected rigid bodies make loops are used in daily life. Most closed-loop mechanisms have been made of revolute pairs and prismatic pairs. However, in this paper, we focused on screw pair, which can open up a pioneering design space of the linkage mechanism. Herein, a screw pair component with finite pitch was designed and a prototype screw joint pair realized a R (Revolute)- H (Helical)- P (Prismatic) closed-loop mechanism. Moreover, a differential mechanism, which contains the R-H-P loop outputs linear and rotational motion. The motion of the closed-loop differential 2-DoF mechanism was numerically analyzed using screw theory methodology.
