Abstract

In recent years, the onset of economy-class syndrome among victims has become a problem as a secondary disaster of large-scale earthquakes. Formally, it is called venous thromboembolism. It presents with a cascade of symptoms leading to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) followed by acute pulmonary embolism. Decreased blood flow velocity in the thigh has been pointed out as one of the causes of onset. In this study, we focused on the femoral blood flow to prevent thrombus formation and prevent DVT. In previous research, we developed a blood flow improvement system using electrical stimulation, but it was insecure. Therefore, we developed a strain sensor that can detect thigh edema safely and inexpensively. Measure the changes in the thigh circumference at several points during long-term sitting, and identify the optimal measurement point.
