Abstract

Accumulated muscle fatigue may cause injury, yet low-cost measurement technology for routine use remains limited. To address the lack of routine low-cost measurement technology for accumulated muscle fatigue, we proposed a new method that utilizes a pressure sensor and a pulse wave sensor. In our study, we measured muscle fatigue in 3 healthy adult men while lifting a barbell and compared our method to the conventional one. Based on the results obtained using a 4.2kg barbell, we developed an estimation formula for muscle fatigue, which had an error range of 10.77% to 29.73%. When we applied this formula to estimate muscle fatigue while using a 7.4kg barbell, the error ranged from 25.53% to 49.27%.
