Abstract

There is an optical proximity sensor that combines the reflectance intensity of the irradiated light and the time of flight to estimate the distance independent of the reflectance of the object to be detected. In this paper, we investigate the detection characteristics of both sensors under various conditions to verify the expected accuracy of reflectance estimation when the two sensors are used together. Experimental results show that there is a suitable distance at which the error and uncertainty of the reflectance estimates are small.
