Abstract

In recent years, there have been attempts to design circuits based on artificial cells that enable advanced information processing. In order to realize this methodology for constructing large-scale molecular systems, it is essential to have the technology to evaluate the complex arrangement of different functions such as sensors, processors, and actuators mounted on artificial cells. Therefore, in this paper, we extend our micro-hand-based stiffness measurement system to measure the stiffness of artificial cells. Using liposomes formed by artificial lipid bilayers as a model of artificial cells, we report a manipulation technique that enables stiffness measurement of liposomes, and the evaluation of stiffness of liposome using our system.
