A regulation system is indispensable to the nuclear industry to prevent nuclear accidents. The Japanese regulatory authority intended to enhance nuclear safety level by changing the current inspection system three years ago. The new design of the system will be enforced at the beginning of next year. This paper describes characteristic features of the new system with application of condition based technology. Application of the condition monitoring system is the first attempt in Japan and it is expected to enhance reliability of machines and components. A regulatory procedure which electrical enterprises should follow will be different from the current one with the maximum operation period of 24 months.
