The purpose of this study is to examine effect of the position of center of gravity and weight of a baseball bat on batting performance when a better hits to the opposite field. The subjects are 2 right-handed batters of the university baseball club. The subjects hit a ball in free direction and opposite direction using 9 bats that their positions of center of gravity and weight are different. The results are as follows. 1) The heavier weight of a bat is, the lower velocity of bat-head is, especially when a bat is heavier than about 900g, and a batter hits to the opposite field. 2) The further the distance from the grip-end to the position of center of gravity of a bat is, the lower velocity of bat-head is. But this tendency is not showed in the case where a batter hits to the opposite field. Also, the effect depends on the person. 3) The position of center of gravity has effect on angular velocity of a bat, but the effect depends on the person. 4) The impact position of a ball and a bat tends to be far from grip-end when a batter uses the bat that the position of center of gravity is far from grip-end, or a batter hits to the opposite field. 5) The further the position of center of gravity of a bat, the nearer to a batter the impact position of a ball on the direction of pitcher-catcher.
