In recent years, golf balls have been produced with micro dimples on the inside and outside of dimples called Micro Surface Roughness (MSR), and it is said that the flight distance is longer than ordinary balls. In our study, the aerodynamic characteristics of the MSR in the non-rotational state were clarified using only two types of dimples with different depths and model balls in which they were subjected to MSR concave and convex. However, although the ball is rotating during the actual game, the influence of the MSR on the aerodynamic characteristics of the golf ball in the rotating state is unknown. Therefore, in this study, in order to clarify the influence of MSR on golf balls in rotation, drag and lift measurements were conducted by wind tunnel experiments using dimples with different depths and model balls with MSR applied to them.
