The purpose of this study is clarify the aerodynamic characteristics of softball used in the official game. It measured ball trajectory and ball speed and the number of revolutions from the throw of the softball pitcher by using high-speed camera. Furthermore, the drag coefficient was measured in the range of Reynolds number 0.6×105~2.6×105 and spin parameter 0.15~0.26. As a result of experiment, it was revealed that a drag coefficient varied according to the difference of the direction of the ball.
