Abstract
Heat exchanger performance, engine performance characteristics and emission characteristics were investigated by equipping a 1kW-class Stiring Engine with a premixed multi-nozzle combustor and flat-plate finned heat exchanger. The finned heat exchanger showed a uniform temperature distribution on fins and a high heat transfer. Improvement of the combustor is needed because while NO concentration was reduced to blow 50ppm, CO concentration is still higher than the target value, 100ppm. Compared to electric heating, ejected heat upon combustion heating increased due to the leakage of the burned gas through the gap between the engine cylinder and the thermal insulator.
