Abstract
Stirlig cycle machines with rotary drive mechanisms have already been proposed which consist of rotating expansion and compression spaces and which are equipped with complicated installations controlling the working gas flowing to and fro between the machine units. This paper presents a new type of rotary drive mechanism for Stirling cycle machines superior to the conventional ones. The key innovation is the use of stationary expansion and compression spaces to allow coupling a rotor and vane installed on a housing. In the advantageous construction, the working space can be separated from one another. At the first onset, we attempt to apply the mechanism for the compressor of a St type pulse tube refrigerator. The result proves that the new type of the rotary drive mechanism has a potential applied to various Striling machines.
