Abstract
This paper describes the vehicle design and its design approach for the Purple Line project in Bangkok, Thailand. J-TREC has designed and constructed a new vehicle based on its product line Sustina which is characterized by high reliability and availability, environment-friendly features and low life cycle cost. For the Purple Line project special attention has been paid to meet international standards that are employed worldwide and the resulting product is a high quality train in which both the superior elements of Japanese design and global design standards are blended together in a perfect manner.
