Abstract
Pressure drop and heat transfer of arrays of in-line square blocks on the wall of parallel channel are measured. The effects of the pitches of the blocks, the number of line and row and the other factors on the pressure drop and heat transfer are investigated. The average Nusselt number of the 1st block can be expressed by Nu_<m1>=0.20 (Re/β)^<2/3>, where β is the opening ratio. Those of 2nd to 6th rows can be expressed within±9% by the following equations: Nu_<mi>=0.17(Re/β)^<2/3>:(P_2/C=4/3), Nu_<mi>=0.21 (Re/β)^<2/3>:(P_2/C=5/3, 2.0). Introducing the pressure loss coefficient, ζ , the above Nusselt numbers are also correlated by the non-dimensional expression within±8% as follows: Nu_<mi>=0.21 (ζ^<1/3>Re)^<2/3>:(P_2/C=5/3, 2.0), Nu_<mi>=0.18 (ζ^<1/3>Re)^<2/3>:(P_2/C=4/3).
