Numerical analysis has been made on a pulsating heat pipe. The flow and temperature fields in the liquid slug and the unsteady heat conduction of the wall were solved along with the movement of liquid slug due to the pressure difference of vapor plugs. The change of mass, volume and pressure of vapor plugs were solved based on the movement of liquid slug and phase change at the interface. The unsteady heat conduction of the tube wall was also solved considering the heat exchange with the moving liquid slug. The self-excited oscillation and a large amount of heat transport were successfully predicted, and the effects of pipe diameter and length were clarified.
