Abstract
So far developed conventional model based on time-average is inapplicable to the prediction of low quality critical heat flux (CHF). This is mainly because the void fraction fluctuation is not properly realized in the simulation. So in this paper, discrete bubble model based on one-dimensional mass conservation equation, i.e. void wave propagation equation, is developed. This model takes into account the wake effect induced by preceding bubble, the compressibility of gas phase and the phase re-distribution due to geometrical constraints. Thus obtains spatio-temporal fluctuation characteristics are well demonstrated not only under steady flow but also oscillatory flow conditions.
