The present paper introduces some characteristics of two phase flow in a newly developed heat transport device (HTD). The device consists of five parallel copper tubes of same diameter which connect an electrically heated evaporator and a water cooled condenser. Experiments were conducted under different conditions and the correlation between the heat transport performance and the inner flow behavior was investigated. Pure water was used as working fluid. Time-dependent temperatures and pressures inside evaporator and condenser chambers were continuously measured and recorded as well as wall temperatures of evaporator, condenser and tubes. The flow situation deduced from the tube-wall temperature measurements was in good agreement with the flow visualization results.
