Abstract
Thermoacoustic cooler is one of promising technique for utilization of unused thermal energy. The object of this paper is to study acoustic field in looped-tube-type thermoacoustic cooler with branch resonator. Using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, pressure, particle velocity, phase difference, and acoustic power were calculated for various stack structure. Since the calculated results are almost agree with the experimental results, the validity of analytical model is depicted. It was also found that the ratio of traveling-wave component changes by varying mesh size in stack. The pressure amplitude of sound in stack was clarified in relation to the flow resistance defined by bulk density and wire diameter in stack.
