Abstract

In this study, the kinetics on the basis of Blasi’s successive chemical reaction model during pyrolysis of cellulose, lignin and xylan have been investigated using thermogravimetry analysis. For cellulose pyrolysis, first pyrolysis rate constant K1 was expressed by a single correlation line even if the heating rate was changed while the variation of second pyrolysis rate constant K2 became slightly large. The activation energy of K1 and K2 for cellulose pyrolysis was 189 kJ/mol and about 100 kJ/mol, respectively. On the other hand, the activation energy of K1 and K2 for lignin pyrolysis was 30 kJ/mol and about 3.7 kJ/mol, respectively.
