Abstract

Thermocouples are often used to measure temperature of electronic components. But,it is a concern to change the heat path by connecting thermocouple to a small component. In this study, thermal resistance values of K-type and T-type thermocouple were calculated. And we measured the thermal resistance values. In order to measure the values, we made some FR-4 board with resistors surfacemounted. The temperature of the resistor was measured with thermocouple. Then, the thermocouple was cut, and the temperature was measured by infrared camera. Thermal resistance of the thermocouple was calculated from this temperature change. The measurement results are close to the calculation results. Therefore, these results make it possible to estimate the temperature without a thermocouple.
