Abstract

Methane was synthesized by microwave plasma using carbon dioxide and hydrogen at atmospheric pressure. In this study, the effects of the input power, gas flow rate and ratio on the conversion were evaluated. Nonlinear relationship between power input and methane conversion has been clarified. Improving the power input increases the plasma occupancy in the reaction tube, promoting the chemical reaction and increasing the conversion of CH4, reaction gas flow rate has a significant influence on the methane yield, in this study, the best flow rate in the condition has been proved that Ar=2.0L/min, CO2=0.01L/min, H2=0.08L/min.
