Abstract
This paper presents development of dynamic tire tester with rotating drum made of steel. The dynamic property of tire is very important for vehicle dynamics. Recently the authors have been studying on the dynamic simulations by multibody dynamics, virtual proving ground by driving simulator and ITS (Intelligent Transport System). The developed machine will be used to examine tire model and several research projects. The most important characteristics of the developed machine is to measure seven channel date, drum rotational frequency, lateral and longitudinal axial forces of tire, vertical load of tire, vertical stroke of tire, steering torque, and steering angle under the dynamic input of steering and load. Using this machine, the basic steady-state and dynamic characteristics of comering force by tire were measured. It was found that these experimental results are reliable.
