Abstract
Using a real full-scale wheelset and a roller rig, the authors investigate characteristics of creep force generated on a contact surface between wheel and rail, especially under condition that a flange of the wheel contacts the rail at one point. The condition has been made by giving imbalance of left and right wheel load and yaw angle of the wheelset, which are the important factors to cause a flange climb derailment. As the first report, the way and some results of the experiment are described.
