Abstract
This paper presents experimental results of the proposed method for friction control between wheel and rail using scaled model vehicle in order to improve the curving performance at the very tight curve section. The friction modifier that is one of the solid lubricants is used on only inner rail surface at the curve section. The experiments with scaled model vehicle were carried out based on anther experiments for basic frictional characteristics with two-roller-rig testing machine. Experimental results showed the proposed method was effective on the reduction of the lateral force on outer rail and wheel and affect its posture in curve section.
