Abstract
In recent years, greater speed is required in elevators. However, vibrations deteriorate the ride quality with increase in the speed. The object of this study is to improve the ride quality of elevators by controlling the vibrations. We propose the Active Mass Damper (AMD) for this purpose. The previous report has confirmed that a one-DOF controller can control the horizontal vibration, but rotational vibration worsens the ride quality of elevators as well. In this paper, we develop the controller by using a two-DOF elevator model, which has horizontal and rotational degree-of-freedom. We discuss a feedback control system based on optimal control theory and H_∞ control theory, and confirm the effectiveness by simulations.
