Abstract
This paper presents estimation of conditions of road surface by using electromagnetic damper, which generates damping force with electric motor/generator. Conditions of road surface are estimated by analyzing the characteristics of generated voltage the electromagnetic damper. Electromagnetic damper can measure vibration of suspension system including vibration of tire. It was shown that there is a correlation between excitation rate on the mode of tire vibration and friction coefficient of road surface for "Smart Roadway".
