Abstract
It is a commonsense that overtaking is highly risky because any poor decision-making and unsuitable maneuvers may lead to accidents directly. However, little research has been done on analyzing overtaking processes in detail. This study aims to evaluate the risk of an overtaking and finding out ways to reduce this risk. For this purpose we develop drive-recorder system which can carry out an observation of driving behavior when overtake. To research on actual conditions of overtaking behavior when drive over expressway, 10 long-distance truck drivers who drive about 600km in a day participate in this study for a year.
