Abstract
The vertical elastic vibrations of railway vehicle carbodies are needed to reduce from the viewpoint of riding comfort. In particular, more than one elastic vibration modes having natural frequencies around 10Hz are known to be affect riding comfort. To reduce those elastic vibrations, we suggested a method by using active mass dampers (AMD). This paper describes the excitation test using a test vehicle in the rolling stock testing plant at RTRI to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Two linear actuators are applied as AMDs and the vibration reduction effect for major two elastic vibration modes and improvement of riding comfort are investigated.
