The disaster at escalator exits draws great attention. This paper proposes a fall detection sensor on the escalator exits. The sensor watches surveillance area with infrared laser, and measures the object position and decides the fall by size and time. Fall detection algorithm finds falling human within 5 seconds while suppresses false alarm caused by crowded people, and send the message to security room. This paper describes the construction and principle of operation, and demonstrates its availability.
