A new pattern of braking force distribution is suggested to brake high speed train in order to be able to stop the train as soon as possible in emergence situation. Effects of the new pattern on dynamic coupler loads and car vibration are investigated by building up a dynamic model of the high speed train and conducting dynamic analysis of the train in emergence stop from the speed of 400km/h. It is found that dynamic loads in couplers and vibration accelerations of cars become greater when the new pattern is used. Since these loads and accelerations do not exceed the allowable values, it has a no problem to use the new pattern to brake the high speed train in emergency situation from the viewpoints of coupler load and train vibration.
