Noise reduction is required for Shinkansen high-speed trains. Circumferential Diaphragms was developed by Shinkansen high-speed test trains (FASTECH360). The effect of noise reduction was checked by the running test. Circumferential Diaphragms was improved for Series E5 and Series E6 Shinkansen high-speed trains. The series E5 will commence operating at a maximum speed of 320km/h at the end of fiscal 2012. Circumferential Diaphragms contributed to 320km/h operation.
