Abstract
In Japan, the number of fatalities regarding pedestrians still remains large number. In order to prevent traffic accident for pedestrians, predicting hazard for pedestrians becomes important in the design of driver assistance system and ITS technologies. This paper focus on the modeling of hazard-anticipatory stopping behavior model during yellow phase at signalized intersection. In this study, near-miss incident with pedestrian at signalized intersection collected with drive recorder is analyzed. Utilizing three indices reflecting risk for stopping, entering and passing, driving model is constructed and evaluated in terms of braking timing before entering signalized intersection during yellow phase. Especially, this paper describes how to decide the braking timing for preventing actual near-miss incident in signalized intersections.
