Abstract
Ventilating equipment for keeping constant ventilation volume of the passenger cabin is mounted on Shinkansen vehicle. Since fresh air that ventilating equipment inhale are mixed with dust. The equipment has a nonwoven fabric filter at fresh air inlet. Clogging of filter due to dust causes to lower ventilation volume, and we need periodical maintenance. In order to prevent ventilation volume decline and to reduce maintenance, we are developing cyclone dust collector that is substitute from the inlet filter. In this development, we confirmed basic performance of cyclone dust collector by using iron powder, aluminum powder and silica sand. For practical use in commercial vehicles, there is a need to further improve.
