In recent years, actual operation of automated truck platoon system in mixed traffic is considered under the limited traffic environment such as an expressway in Japan. As a truck forms a platoon with short gap in this system, the truck platoon may adversely affect a general traffic. A driver of leading truck in platoon manages the safety. It is difficult for a driver to confirm safely of long platoon consisted of three or more heavy-duty trucks. Especially safety confirmation during lane change is difficult. Therefore, this paper proposes a design of HMI system for truck platoon in lane change on an expressway, and evaluate the effectiveness by experiments using driving simulator. In subject experiments using a driving simulator, driving behavior, the biological reaction, and questionnaire are analyzed comprehensively.
